On October 11/2009 the Cynthia Phillips Primary School opened and I was lucky enough to be there . A special thank you to the Calgary Zoo's Conservation Outreach program and the programs leaders Brian Keating as well as  Kevin Strange and Donna Sheppard. Without the amazing work of the Conservation Outreach team and all the people who make it work I could not honor the memory of Cindy. The building of the school could not have become the facility it is without the generosity of the Kiwanis Club of Northmount, Calgary.

A very special thank you to the communities of Kpanfa, Teme and Tuole for their generosity and enthusiasm that made the Cynthia Phillips Primary School a part of their communities. The three communities are part of the Wechiau Community Hippo Sanctuary located in West Upper Volta Region of Ghana. I would also like to thank First Calgary Savings for their donation. With their support, sporting and school supplies were supplied for the Cynthia Phillips Primary School.

"The two reports were filed for the Calgary Zoo by Donna Sheppard. "

The Cynthia Phillips Primary School became a reality that only came to fruition with the efforts of the Calgary Zoo's Conservation Outreach program and the Wechiau Community Hippo Sanctuary. A special nod of appreciation goes out to Donna Sheppard who's efforts in Wechiau go way above the the call of duty. The Cynthia Phillips Primary School's opening also was part of the 10th anniversary celebrations for the Wechiau Community Hippo Sanctuary.

I am forever grateful to the efforts of everyone who made this project the huge success that it is!
